people say Obama’s words are just words...
but...
when was the last time "words" weren’t important...???...

when was the last time a great leader didn’t use words to lead...??...
when was the last time a person didn’t use words to describe how they felt...?...
when was the last time "words" weren’t empowering...?...

and we can all recall the last time "words" were used to divide us and install fear...

Bush used words to fear us into voting for him the second time around...
terror this...
terror that...
nuclear here...
weapons of mass destruction there...

and those words effected a lot of people’s choices...

"enough is enough"...
let’s rebuild...

let’s change ourselves...
let’s allow positivity to guide us...

let's take action....
let’s activate our passion...
we are Americans....

and this is the first time in forever that someone running for president represents "US"...

some say this is all excitement...
I call it “proud to be an American”...

some say this whole Obama movement is "cult like"...
well...
if it comes across cult like...
then...
the cult is called America...

the Obama movement is connecting America.
and it has made "US" realize our importance...
the youth is excited and activated...
adults are passionate and motivated...
the elderly are proud to know the country they built is in safe hands...

we are one...

for too long politics has been corrupt...
separate from the American people...
with agendas that go against what the American people "need"...
education...
health...
safety...
jobs
etc...

politicians have spoken a different language...
making it so the youth and poor people feel as if voting was only for the wealthy and old people...
making "US" feel as if "we" had no voice...
making "US" feel powerless...
making it feel like if "we" did vote it wouldn’t change anything...

but wait...
that did happen...
some of us voted, and it didn’t change anything...

we were in the dark...
we had no voice...
we were powerless...

because America was not a united America...
and "they" spoke a different language...
and they had an agenda different from our well being...

correct me if I’m wrong... or speak up if I’m missing something...

we want education, health, safety, and good jobs...right???...
oh yeah...
and "a healthy planet to live on"...

but here we are...

in a war... poor education... poor health programs... the dollar is down... the planet, polluted...
the rich, richer... and the poor, struggling...
with sky high gas prices to top it all off...

and now even the rich aren't really rich internationally because our dollar is has fallen so far down...

in our slumber... a very small few got really rich...

because when you’re sleeping...

"it’s hard to change agendas"...

we know what happened in 2000 and 2004...
but in 2008...
it’s different...

we are awake...
and there is a movement...

and "it’s hard to change a movement"...

last time "we" didn’t have a movement...
America wasn’t united...

and now "United and "Standing"...for something...
we know the power of "US"...
and we have a person who represents the "U.S."...

"US"…

"we are the ones we’ve been waiting for"...

I've been really moved by the political engagement of Will.i.am. Would Black Eyed Peas consider as a band doind more political publc service by getting their A-list friends together for an internet campaign - a song -with the following theme:
"Not everyone can or will serve in the military.
Not everyone will be a POW. But everyone can show their patriotism.
As for me, I am willing to pay my share of taxes to ensure America's future.
I am a patriot. Yes, I can!"

Considering that A-lister's all make over $250,000.00 per year and overwhelmingly have supported Obama with full knowledge that their taxes would be increased, I think that this would be a great way to combat MaCCain- Palin ridiculing Biden's statement that this is a time to pull together and be patriotic and pay your share. It would also be a great way to negate the tales of 'eliteism' that were leveled against Hollywood for their Obama fundraiser this week.

Dear Will,

I appreciate the fact that you are displaying a beautiful idea and a positive message. I am always admiring people with positive thought. I have one, well...actually a few concerns.

I just heard today that the current administration is in the process of moving any detainee in the globe to Bagram in Afghanistan, yet continuing the former administration's policies of torture, held without representation or a right to a fair trial.

This doesn't seem to fix the closing of Guantanamo. This is where the concern really kicks in. The continuing problem of insurgency IS our previous policy. How can we continue to have faith in words, while the new boss is sounding a lot like the old boss?

His comments on Habeas Corpus, now this is coming from the horse's mouth; does not include terror suspects. The rich got bailed out and the poor is poorer, losing homes, loved ones over seas and hope. So now what? We are just going to continue to strip liberties over seas and at home?

I really hope you read this, because I am beginning to lose faith. And I will call out anyone who does not keep up with the news media one shots. Meaning, we won't be hearing about that again anytime soon. Thanks for the recap Rachel Meadows. BTW, she is a democrat. Go fig.

First of all to use the word nigger is plain and ignorant, at least he is doing something positive and doing what he wants. hey i really liked your comment about words being enough to lead and make things happen.

i'm not american but am affected (of course) by who your president is..and i when obama was campaigning i had so much hope that he would become president, not because of his skin colour, but because he's very intelligent and seems to genuinely care about people (all kinds of people, rather than the position of power that he could attain.

i'm very glad americans chose the way they did and i think we all have a good reason to be hopeful that your choice will lead to better things.

I was very impressed with the mortgage payoff on Oprah. Thanks for being you Will.I.Am. I have always dreamed of winning the lottery so I could give it away. Maybe its my Native American values or who knows but I measure my wealth by what I give away. I am currently unemployed and can't give the way I would like to and even given my former small salary (<50K) I always found ways to give, like raising money for the local orphanage, or being a foster parent for babies born addicted. I wish I could be involved with the big giving. Think about Native America for your next act of kindness.

First let me tell how wonderful it is that you have started a fund to help people in jeopardy of losing their homes.
I hope you can be our saving angel!
I'm 48 years old, my husband is 51 years old. We've been happily married for 31 years. We have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren.
I suffer from MS, Fibromyalgia and lupus. So, I receive Social Security Disability. My husband works for an insulation company that is struggling due to the economy and lack of new construction. About a year and a half ago, the company announced they were down sizing and if he wanted to stay on as a sales rep he would be paid commissions only. That meant losing his $3000.00 per month salary. We fell behind on most of our bills our house payment included.
After five months of making hardly anything, my husband was ready to find a new job. The company didn't want to loss him so they put him back on his monthly salary with a small raise. But by then we were struggling and haven't been able to catch up. And all the stress hasn't been good on my medical condition.
Enough about work and on to why we need your help.
After all the changes in his pay I called our mortgage company and they put us on a hardship program that expired on May 17, 2010. I took all our credit cards and unsecured loans to Consumer Credit Counselling. They worked with our creditors and arranged for them to take lower payments so maybe we wouldn't have to file bankruptcy.
But now that we aren't on the hardship program they are asking for the past due payments and the deferred interest. They are also asking for the money they paid on our behalf for back property taxes.
Mr. WILL.I.Am, we have no money for our retirement. No IRA's no 401K's nothing. All we have is our home. And we are in jeopardy of losing it.
As of today, we are $198,238.01 in debt. Our monthly income is approximately $3,700.00 and our monthly bills are approximately $3,500.00 not including money for food, gas, medication or any thing else.
Please help us so we don't lose our home. We have borrowed money from our family and have no where else to go. Our credit score is to low to borrow money to consolidate and we would feel bad about filing bankruptcy on those who extended us credit.
I've been praying for help for several weeks and yesterday I was watching an episode of Oprah I had recorded, and there you were. I took this as a sign to write to you. I hope we hear from you. If for some reason you can't help us, maybe you could tell us who might.
I thank you for your time and pray we hear from you soon. Please help us keep our home.
